Ok, I need an explanation of the "Not Really".
The last couple years have been justified as a necessary trip to Bonneville to visit my friends Jon and Nancy Wennerberg, who run the Landracing.com web site that I do the tech work on. Good excuse, right?
Well, because of schedules, that wasn't going to happen this year, so I had to wing it without a valid excuse. Or at least a different one, visiting my brother-in-law and his wife in Klamath Falls, OR... my old stomping grounds.
Good enough.
So it's off I go, son Trev couldn't make it like last year, so I'm alone. Bummer. But then there's the saying that "A bad day fishing is better than...".
Not many photos of the first day, it was a ride up to Denver via Alamosa, Fairplay, and Bailey (look it up) which beat the I-25 drone, which I've done too many times.
Went that way to meet a cousin that I'd hadn't seen in 44 years... last time I saw her (and her sister) I was 19, and on an ROTC field trip to Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. from my school (Michigan Tech) in northern Michigan. Her dad (my Uncle Jimmy, a great guy) was stationed there, So we had a serendipitous crosssing of paths.
This time, it was on purpose. As much as I hate Facebook, I've had a lot of family connections made that way.
Anyway, 'twas a great visit, I found out that they are Harley folks, and my bike would (mandatorily) have a nice warm spot in the gargage that night. My 'little cousin' and her husband have a son, much like my own (young, strong, and very busy doing stuff) and an incredibly polite (and gorgeous) daughter who hung out with us old folks, pretty cool. She's into national-level cheerleading competitions which are pretty foreign to me, but I certainly wish them all the best! Great family scene.
So after the visit, it was a decision as to whether to take the 'main roads' west, or to ferret out the smallest roads I could handle on the Concours. Hah! Is that a choice?
There weren't any sketchy roads, the smallest I could find were good 2-lane highways. Good enough.

... to be continued....
